The Great Race is a time, speed, endurance rally for vehicles built in 1972 and earlier and it travels North America each year. The Great Race was here 20 years ago and we are excited to have them back in Rapid City downtown during Summer Nights. Come out and support the Great Race!!

The racers will arrive in Rapid City just 30 minutes or so after spending time at Mount Rushmore. The afternoon competition will feature some of the most memorable scenery ever as cars will rally through the rocky terrain and tall trees of the Black Hills, trekking through tunnels and winding roads that circle back under themselves. And if that was not exciting enough, the stop in Rapid City will take place during the city’s Summer Nights festival. If live music is not your thing, you can sign up for the optional trip to Crazy Horse that evening for the laser light show (more details available soon). The winning rally team for the day will be presented a trophy featuring Mount Rushmore.
