2017 South Dakota Festival of Books at the Downtown Library

It’s time again for the South Dakota Festival of Books. The downtown library (610 Quincy Street, upstairs) will host festival presenters from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 21. Here’s this year’s lineup:

·         Cartooning for Kids of All Ages | Mike Artell | 10 – 10:45 a.m.

·         Native American Stories & Songs | Joseph Bruchac | 11 – 11:45 a.m.

·         Long-armed Ludy and the First Women’s Olympics | Jean Patrick | 12:30 – 1:15 p.m.

·         Start with an Idea, Finish with a Book | Donald F Montileaux | 1:30 – 2:15 p.m.

·         Tales from Deckawoo Drive: Creating the 2017 Young Readers One Book | Chris Van Dusen | 4:30 – 5:30 p.m.

Sunday, September 24, from 2 to 2:45 p.m., our Festival of Books speaker is Gene Luen Yang, National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature.

Mitzi’s Books will be on hand with books available for purchase. Funding for these programs comes from the SD Humanities Council, an affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities. Visit sdhumanities.org for more information.
