Annual Holiday Parade of Trees at South Dakota School of Mines & Technology

December 7, 2016 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

The public is invited to the annual holiday Parade of Trees and display of gingerbread creations from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7, in the Surbeck Center ballroom at the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology. Community members are invited to vote on their favorite trees and edible designs.

This year’s theme is “A Frosty Kind of Holiday,” with the event featuring holiday trees decorated like snowmen. The Parade of Trees typically draws between 25 and 30 organizations, each striving to outdo one another and produce the most creative and festive tree of the season.

The annual Parade of Trees is sponsored by the Student Activities and Leadership Center, which is asking the public to bring canned food donations as the price of admission. Canned goods will benefit the campus student food pantry, which is low on supplies.

“Frosty” gingerbread creations designed and built by student groups and sponsored by Women in Science and Engineering will also be displayed and voted on by the public.
