The Rapid City Medical Center and The Endoscopy Center will host the Bottoms Up for Colon Cancer 5K run/walk on Saturday, March 11.
The event, which aims to increase awareness of colon cancer, will raise money for early detection and prevention.
All proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society’s “80% by 2018” initiative. This initiative aims to increasing screening rates to 80% by 2018 with the goal of preventing 277,000 new cases of colon cancer and 203,000 deaths within 20 years, according to the American Cancer Society.
The race will start and finish at Founders Park in Rapid City. Registration will open at 10:00 a.m. and the race will begin at 11:00 a.m. Registration fee for all participants on race day is $25.
Early registration for this event is now open and will close February 25. Registration forms are available at The Runner’s Shop, Rapid City Medical Center, and The Endoscopy Center or online at www.RapidCityMedicalCenter.com. Early registration rates are $20 and $15 for Runners Club members. All racers
are invited to lunch and brews under the giant inflatable colon sponsored by Lost Cabin and Smokin’ Hot Catering immediately following the race.
The first 125 people to register will receive a fleece beanie and all participants will receive a SWAG bag at registration. All fitness levels are welcome. This event is designed for the whole family to enjoy!
