Relay For Life is a grass roots, community-based team event. In the Northern Hills, we’re trying something new this year:
Climb Every Mountain 5K
Registration at 10 a.m. – walk starts at 11 a.m.:
We’ll kick off the event with a 5K fun walk/run. We’ll start at the Deadwood Mountain Grand, walk (or run) out to the new Pluma Visitor Center and back. You can register online HERE (note: additional fees apply) or you can register onsite. The first 100 people registered receive a free slingpack and water bottle.
Family Fun Events
11:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.:
Come on inside the events center at the Deadwood Mountain Grand. You’ll find carnival-style games, a bouncy house for the kids, a dunk tank with some very special guests who have agreed to get wet for the cause (check the schedule HERE), face painting, photo booth, live music from the Sean & Marty Show and Scott Bellow and so much more! Food will be available for purchase on site, too.
Survivor’s Registration
2:00 p.m.:
Of course, survivors are welcome to join us for the entire day, but we ask our survivors to regsiter with us before 3 p.m. Survivors will receive a special shirt honoring them, and we’ll have a ceremony to honor everyone starting at 3.
Luminaria Ceremony
3:30 p.m.
Next, we’ll linie a walking path in the events center with luminaria. Each luminaria bag honors a survivor or remembers someone who has passed. We’ll darken the room, give our survivors a chance to walk the path first, then have everyone join them in a lap around the luminaria. If you’d like to dedicate a luminaria bag to honor a loved one, click HERE.
Closing Ceremony
4:00 p.m.
We will finish our day by heading onto the outside deck at the Deadwood Mountain Grand, and releasing balloons (biodegradable ones) to further honor our cancer survivors and loved ones we’ve lost. Balloons will be available for purchase throughout the day.
