Rapid City has been selected as one of 13 communities nationwide to host the Life Is A Cycle bike event.
The event will be held Saturday, May 6 at 9:30 a.m. at Founders Park. The event coincides with National Bike Month and is sponsored locally by the City of Rapid City, KIND and My City Bikes.
Life Is A Cycle is a group bike ride teaching participants where to bike commute in their community, and the need-to-know essentials of biking for transportation.
“This event allows beginner bike commuters to experience and enjoy the City’s bike lanes, paths and shared-use roads with a group of local riders,” said Alex DeSmidt of the City’s Parks and Recreation Department. “Life Is A Cycle is for anyone who’s ever been curious about bike commuting and an opportunity to experience active transportation in a group setting.”
The event is open to the public. Registration is $1.50 with proceeds donated to the American Heart Association.
