The most skilled young computer programmers from around the world converge on Rapid City May 20 for the 41st Annual International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC). Dr. Richard Gowen, president of the non-profit corporation Excellence in Computer Programming, the host of the competition, is our guest at Lunch & Learn. Wednesday, March 15 from noon – 1 p.m. at the downtown library (610 Quincy Street, upstairs), Dr. Gowen will provide a behind-the-scenes look at the event and the importance of the competition. Gowen was president at South Dakota School of Mines & Technology from 1987-2003. Computer coding teams from SDSM&T have qualified for the ICPC World Finals six times since 1998. It has been 12 years since the ICPC has been held in the United States.
Please sign up on our online Events Calendar by noon Monday, March 13. Lunch is provided by the Friends of the Library and Great Harvest Bakery.
