If you race to be the first one to the crossword puzzle when the paper arrives, this tournament is for you! Test your skills in our friendly contest Sunday, April 15 from 1:30 – 4:30 p.m. at the downtown library (610 Quincy Street, upstairs). Each participant will solve three unpublished, New York Times daily crossword puzzles with 20-minute rounds for each. Puzzles are provided by NPR Puzzle Master and NYT Crossword Editor Will Shortz. The top three scorers will advance to a final playoff puzzle in a nail-biting, sudden-death round.

Tournament sign-in is at 1:30. Puzzles 1, 2 and 3 will be worked from 2 – 3 p.m. At 3:30 p.m. we will announce the playoff contestants. The championship playoff sudden-death round will be held at 4 p.m. on giant grids for all to view. Scoring is based on speed and accuracy. Coffee and donuts will be provided. Take-home crosswords and word games are available for tournament viewers.
