60 Teslas – $6 million in cars – are making a road trip to Custer, SD on May 19th. This event is the fourth annual Tesla Road Trip Rally and still the only one of its kind in the United States. The Custer Area Chamber of Commerce has been working with local businesses and even caught the attention of Tesla Motors itself to help get charging stations in Custer for these cars. A Tesla is a $100,000 vehicle that runs on electricity only, Tesla manufactured the first electric sports car going from 0 to 60 mph in 3.1 seconds. The Custer Area Chamber of Commerce has invited Tesla owners to come explore the beautiful drives the Southern Black Hills has to offer, the success of Custer’s first ever Tesla Road Trip Rally in the United States has spread so fast we expect six times as many as last year’s Rally. The cars will be on display for viewing and questions on Friday evening, May 19th from 5pm-7pm, we will be closing down the road on 6th Street between Mt. Rushmore Road and Washington Street. The Custer Area Chamber of Commerce as well as local businesses will be hosting a social mixer at the same time and location to welcome the Teslas and anyone who wants to come out. There will be live music and food provided.
