Marina Tarashevsce, an animal rescue worker in Dallas, has been trying to catch a stray dog for weeks. Then, he wouldn’t stop barking last Tuesday night, and she noticed he wasn’t with a female dog he usually runs around with. So she and another dog trainer went to investigate. But once they’d get close, he’d run farther into the woods where he’s been living. Then he’d start barking again like he wanted them to follow, so they did. The dog eventually he led them straight to the other dog, which had just given birth to ten puppies!
At that point, they weren’t doing very well. They were lying in the mud shivering, and if they’d stayed there all night, they might have been in trouble. But they’re in a shelter now, and they’re all doing fine.
It’s not clear if the male dog is the father or not, but Marina decided to name him “Hero.” And she’s keeping all of the dogs together until the puppies are old enough to be adopted.
