Four cops were eating at a diner in Pittsburgh last Friday, the day after the Dallas shooting that killed five cops and injured nine more. And when a couple was being seated at the table next to them, the guy said he wanted to sit somewhere else and not next to the cops. He was apparently angry about the officer-involved shootings in Louisiana and Minnesota recently.
One of the cops, Chuck Thomas, told the man that he didn’t have to worry. But he still decided to sit on the other side of the restaurant. So before the officers left, they decided to pay his $28.58 bill, as well as their own. And to top it off, they also left a $10 tip. On the receipt, they wrote, “Your check was paid for by the police officers that you didn’t want to sit next to. Thank you for your support.”
Chuck says that a lot of other people thanked them for their service that day, and that this was the only negative experience they had. And the whole point was to improve the relationship between the community and the cops.
