Woman ‘Graduates’ From Hospice Care After Living Longer Than Expected (Video)

If someone is on hospice care, then the end is pretty close.  Or at least that’s what we’ve been made to think.  But for one New York woman, that is indeed NOT the case!

Two years ago, Irene Olsen, who has stage four lung cancer and debilitating COPD, was given just six months to live.  At that time, she was assigned hospice care to make her final months a little more comfortable.  But Irene just kept chugging along and, two years later, is still ticking!

Last week, Irene’s daughter, who she lives with, received a call from hospice saying that they were pulling her care.  So she would no longer receive the in-home treatment that she’s been receiving for the last two years.  Why?  Well, it turns out that Irene “isn’t dying fast enough.”  Since Irene’s condition is considered “stable” after all of this time, hospice care was being pulled.  This situation is extremely rare and actually has a name: “graduating” from hospice!

So now, Irene is left without the care that has most likely kept her alive for these past two years.  Check out the crazy news story below!
