One photographer at the Auburn/LSU game learned the hard way that it’s not a good plan to try and catch a kickoff when you’re not wearing any protective equipment, or from your knees.
Ashley Ward of Auburn University Athletics’ Photo and Video department had a running bet with a friend that if a kickoff went out of the back of the end zone, she’d be able to catch it from her knees. And if the meaning of “catch” was “let it hit you square in the nose,” then yes, Ashley nailed it!
Watch below as Ashley knee-walked towards the soaring football, but misjudged it by just inches. And those inches were all too important, as it clocked her in the face and knocked her down.
Ashley appears to be just fine, though, as she was interviewed after the game and seems to have a pretty good sense of humor about the whole thing. We’re betting she’ll have a helmet on for next week’s game.
