This morning on the show, we talked to journalist, TV personality and author Anderson Cooper about his new book, “The Rainbow Comes and Goes: A Mother and Son On Life, Love, and Loss,” which he co-wrote with his mother Gloria Vanderbilt.
We started off the interview by telling Anderson that he and his mother were responsible for the most awkward moment of all of our lives: when we each called our parents to ask them if they had ever had a same-sex relationship. This was based off of Anderson learning during an interview last year that his mother had “experimented” back in the day before settling down.
We asked Anderson if it’s difficult to enjoy his job in the era we’re in, where the White House is constantly targeting and called out by the White House for reporting “fake news.” Anderson also told us about the portion of the book that talks about when he came out to his mother and how they both have different perspectives of the conversation. And it was awesome to hear Anderson talk about the one word that he never wants to hear his mother say ever again! We closed the interview with a round of The Bald Truth.
