Nail Salon Posts A Sign Announcing Increased Prices For Overweight Customers (Video)

Getting your nails done is always a little expensive, but in those “treat yo’ self” times, it’s worth it. Well this salon is causing controversy for jacking up prices for PETTY-cures.

In a report from Tennessee’s Fox59, a sign at a nail salon that reads “Sorry, if you are overweight, pedicures will be $45 due to service fees for pedicurists” has been passed along through Facebook and has started an uproar.

When the TV station went to ask the owner of the salon for comment, he denied the existence of the sign but said he’d considered one. However, he said in lieu of a sign, he’s just chosen to not touch overweight people’s toes.

Apparently, to the salon, it’s not about blatant discrimination, but the fact that it’s more difficult for the nail techs.  Also, they say that chairs have broken in the past, costing them over $2,000.

The salon owner also said there is a $5 up-charge on pedicures for men because they don’t come in as often as women.

On one hand, we can kind of understand where he’s coming from.  But on the other, it’s just plain rude to refuse service to someone who just wants cute toes.
