Cardiac call

On December 25th at around 7:15 a.m., police were dispatched to the 200 block of E. Saint Andrew Street for a report of an unconscious individual lying on the ground. On arrival, police located the individual and determined he was deceased. There were no signs of trauma or other foul play on the individual. In the preliminary stages of the investigation, police believe hypothermia is the cause of death. An autopsy has been scheduled in the investigation. The individual has since been identified as 69-year-old Alan Jack of Rapid City. The investigation into his death is ongoing.

Incidents like this one are a tragedy. We work hard to make sure everyone we encounter has a warm place go. As much as we wish it were the case, our officers cannot be everywhere at once.
