The Padres Lost An Extra-Innings Game On A Routine Pop-Up (Video)

It’s early on in the baseball season, so it’s understandable that teams aren’t exactly firing on all cylinders just yet. But in the case of the Padres, man, there’s really no excuse for this one.

In a game the other night between the Padres and Astros, the Astros had a man on second with two outs in the bottom of the 10th inning with Alex Bregman at the plate. Bregman popped the ball up to the infield, but due to no Padres player really committing to catching it, the ball dropped and the Padres base runner scored from second.

As soon as the ball was in the air, both the pitcher and the catcher pointed up at the ball and first baseman Eric Hosmer took chase, but seemed to hesitate a bit while in route. He then overran the ball, it dropped to the ground behind him and the winning run scored.

That’s just an embarrassing way to lose a game.
