Local Restaurant Starts Automatically Adding 15% Tip To Bills For Any Grade School Kids (Video)

A restaurant in Simsbury, Connecticut has received some backlash after adding a customary 15% gratuity to bills of grade-school-age customers.

The decision came because Iron Horse Pizzeria and Sports Pub is a frequent spot for kids at the nearby school. We’ve all had our after school traditions with our friends and these kids would often stop in after school for some pizza and (root) beer.

Kids who had become regulars at Iron Horse got quite a surprise when they noticed the new gratuity policy but, honestly, we kind of see where the restaurant is coming from.

According to Iron Horse’s owner, they get lots of young customers who fail to tip on a regular basis and cited one particular time when the school had a half day and only two of the 12 tables of kids who came in tipped.

Not saying we condone discriminating against all children, but this one makes a pretty good case! Gotta let these young punks know somehow!
