New York Mets Player Tricks An Umpire Into Thinking He Made An Amazing Foul Ball Catch (Video)

The other day during the Mets/Dodgers game, Mets third baseman Todd Frazier made an incredible play when he dove into the stands to catch a foul ball…or so everyone thought! After a bit of an investigation by SNY, the Mets’ home broadcast network, it appears as though Frazier did NOT indeed make the catch!

In the video below, watch as Frazier makes a great catch just before crashing into the first row behind third base. At regular speed, it looks like just that. But slow it down a bit and look at it from different angles and you’ll see that while Frazier initially made the catch, he dropped the ball when he smashed into the stands. He then picked up a rubber baseball that had fallen out of a fan’s bag, and that’s the ball that he showed to the umpire who made the out call. Once Frazier was back on the field, he smartly tossed the rubber ball back into the stands to get rid of the evidence!

After the inning, Frazier can be seen in the dugout telling his tale to his teammates!
