Kawhi Leonard held his first press conference as a Toronto Raptor yesterday and it was, well, a little awkward.
Leonard didn’t leave his last team, the San Antonio Spurs, on the best of terms. He wasn’t happy that they misdiagnosed an injury he sustained and really didn’t like it when teammates were throwing shade at him in the press. So he wanted out and landed in Toronto.
During his first presser in a Raptors uniform yesterday, Leonard was asked what the people of Toronto should know about him. He responded by saying, “Um, I’m a fun guy,” in perhaps the most un-fun way possible. He didn’t crack a smile. He didn’t joke around at all. Just “I’m a fun guy.”
Leonard did eventually laugh, after admitting that he didn’t even know who was asking the question. And he has one of those ridiculous, Grandpa-like high-pitched laughs. Seems fitting for such a fun guy.
