Rookie athletes aren’t the only ones to make mistakes. It can happen to the referees too.
When his father Ed Hochuli, notorious for his massive arms, retired at the end of last season, Shawk Hochuli was promoted to the position of NFL referee. So with this being his rookie year, it’s expected that he’ll flub things from time to time. And the first time came this weekend when he was attempting to call an “illegal block in the back,” but managed to totally Free Beer things and instead announced, “Illegal back in the block.” Classic Free Beer word scramble right there, folks!
