At around 12:55 a.m. on October 25th, police observed a Chevy HHR fail to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Mt. Rushmore Road and Clark Street. The vehicle turned to head south on Mt. Rushmore Road and police initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle. The vehicle came to a stop, and as police attempted to make contact with the driver, the vehicle sped off. The pursuit circled around Rapid City’s south side and made its way to the northern side of town. In the area of Mt Rushmore Road and North Street, police lost sight of the vehicle and terminated the pursuit. Police later located the vehicle abandoned on Kyle Street. Methamphetamine and associated paraphernalia were located in the car. Police continue to investigate.
